Taking advantage of the presence of a wide variety of experts in different topics meeting for the Conference on Complex Systems (CCS), we are organising a two-day informal event for PhD students and early-stage scientists. You will have the opportunity to attend talks by prominent researchers, learn about the scientific and life experience of young and senior colleagues, and – last but not least – have fun and socialise!
Importantly, thanks to the support of the Network Science Institute (NetSI), this edition of the warm-up is free of charge for anyone attending the main conference! We reached the event capacity though, so we are not able to accept more registrations to the Warm-Up.
When?
Event: August 30-31, 2024, the Friday and Saturday just before CCS (we’ll suggest some train options for a common departure to Exeter on Sunday)
Where?
On the brand new campus of Northeastern University in London, UK 🇬🇧 (how to get there?)
What?
Schedule
All the times shown here are in London time (BST)!
Speakers
Neave O’Clery is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis of University College London. She’ll be with us at the Warm-Up to share with us her experience in working with policy makers as a complexity scientist.
Leto Peel is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Data Analytics and Digitalisation of Maastricht University. The Warm-Up will be the occasion to hear about his experiences and lessons learned from working and interacting across different domains.
Giovanni Petri is a Professor in the Network Science Institute at Northeastern University London. He’ll tell us the tale of how he ended up being at the forefront of the development of higher-order network science, and how he survived to tell it.
Mariana Macedo and Sofia Teixeira (Northeastern University, London), together with PhD students Kamyar Roudakian (Koç University, Istanbul) and Yuanmo He (LSE, London), will join us for a panel discussion around the demands of academia, and how one can cope with them.
How?
The event capacity has been reached, so registrations are closed, unfortunately.
